(call first to see if they reopened) Medi Mar Inc. (MMI) is located in Northridge on Reseda Blvd.,
between Nordoff and Roscoe. This place is near CSUN. There is curbside parking
on Reseda, directly in front of MMI; however, there is also a parking lot with
tons of spaces accessible via the back alley. We recommend driving by the front
to scope out the location before turning into the alley and then parking in the
lot. Whether you enter from the front or from the back, you end up at the same
reception window. The owner "D" described this place as a secure box/cubicle
inside a box/building. The reception window is located toward the Reseda Blvd./front
side, and if you enter from the rear, a hallway will guide you around the "inner
box" towards the same window. There were a few chairs to sit in while you
wait, a small table holding some cards and flyers, and verification was once again
quick and painless. Also, there was a clean restroom and a staff room with a small
kitchen located by the back entrance.
The medication room at MMI is rather large; especially in comparison to their
previous Encino location. Note, MMI Encino closed doors at 9pm on September 31st,
2007 and they reopened as MMI Northridge at 10am on October 1st, 2007. So they
have been here for almost a year and a half. This larger sized medication room
is painted several bright colors, which give the space a vibrancy that will put
you at ease. There is a desk to the immediate right, behind the verification window
when you first enter this room, a couple of display cases to the left with a big
menu board on the wall behind, a door to the vapor lounge in the far left corner,
and in the right back corner a big fridge with edibles stands adjacent to a couch.
The shelves of the display cases hold many items and a fine selection of medication.
They had almost every type of medicating accessory known to man including: pipes,
blunts, lighters, a glass sex toy or two, secret soda can stash holders, books
(The Emperor Wears No Clothes, by Jack Herer), t-shirts, and even Iron Lungs,
which are like a spoof you blow your smoke through to filter out the odor. There
were 18-25 strains that ranged in price $17-20/G and $35-50/8th. Definitely love
how all 8ths are capped at $50 and grams at $20. There were 5 hashes for $25/G
each and some kif for $15/G. They gave us a sample of Godfather Purple which was
a very colorful, fruity smelling, dank sauce Indica. We got jiggy with it in the
medication room. The Headband looked and smelled super dank, almost up there with
the primo 707. Did not try any, but it definitely caught our eyes... and noses.
Saw some stellar Lavender and Grapefruit Romulan nugz, really liked the smell
of the Snowcap and Afgoo hashish; trim and Shake were available for as low as
$5-10/G.
MMI not only has a highly respectable selection of medication and accessories,
but their edibles are tasty and filled and full of the homemade loving fealing.
MMI has their own brand of Opie's edible, which includes brownies, cereal bars,
and cakes. There was a cannabis pill, and there were many flavors of Mateo's Mota
Madness Iced Tea. After you check out this wide variety of medical edibles, etc,
be sure to check out the medication room. Like the rest of the dispensary, this
room is painted crazy colors and has some cool random art on the walls. This room
is a little smaller in size, but it had a few bongs, pipes, and a Vaper Bro's
vaporizer (the one with the wood box and tube). Get medicated here, chill out
for a while and leave in high spirits.
We certainly like the people at MMI. They had some young ladies working behind
the counter; which is always refreshing, and we have seen their staff and owners
at Protests including the recent Hope for Cannabis Change -- Free Charles Lynch
Protest at Downtown LA. The owner, along with his carpenter budz, really did an
excellent job renovating this spot. We have reverence for MMI and hope you will
give them a visit next time you are near Northridge. This place has A+ potential.
The only negative is that when we visited their Encino location there were more
and better strains. If they get a few more top-notch strains they can prolly move
up in the Weed Connection ranks. Check out MMI. Tell them you were referred by
